Our practice was originally formed in 1985 by Tony Harney as T A Harney & Co. On the admission of James Nolan as a partner the firm changed its name to Harney Nolan Business Advisors. We currently employ thirteen people, six of which are qualified accountants. We ensure that a high percentage of our staff are qualified that way we can guarantee that clients will get the best possible service from knowledgeable and experienced individuals.

We have built up a great deal of experience and expertise in serving our clients throughout Ireland and abroad. We are auditors to a wide range of business entities.

These include indigenous and multinational, commercial and not for profit organizations.We have experience in carrying out audits of foreign subsidiaries based in Ireland and reporting to their group auditors who rely on our audit workings.

Our firm has gained significant experience in auditing, accounting, taxation, financial planning and business services through its client base, which ranges from sole trader businesses to multinational companies. We also have experience in auditing various entities such as charities, state funded organisations and friendly societies. We believe that Harney Nolan has a proven ability to provide a punctual high quality service to our clients.

Our firm has internal procedures for quality assurance, which are followed on all audits. These procedures, which are regularly reviewed and updated, ensure that we deliver a uniform high quality service for all clients.

Harney Nolan is a key member of a network of accountants in the Southeast. This network allows firms to exchange ideas and experiences and to increase their knowledge base. It also allows us to develop our understanding of best practice and apply this experience across our client base.

Tony Harney

B.Comm. FCA, is the firm’s managing partner and is head of our value added and taxation services. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a member of the Institute of Taxation in Ireland. He qualified with one of the Southeast’s largest accountancy practices where he received a detailed and extensive training in all forms of auditing, accounting, taxation and business issues. Tony has extensive business and financial experience. He is well respected as a business consultant and is expert in identifying value added traits in businesses. Tony has built up an excellent relationship with his clients and is held in high esteem by the local business community.

James Nolan

FCCA CPA, is the firm’s audit partner with responsibility for the direct supervision of our audit team. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He originally qualified with our firm before joining a “Big 4” practice as assistant audit manager. After 3 years in that position he returned to this firm as audit manager. During the past 15 years he has worked on and managed a range of audit engagements, many of them large entities and listed companies. He has acquired a detailed working knowledge of the most current auditing, accounting and financial reporting standards, guidelines and regulations.
